Over the years I've found recording the drum kit to be one of the most rewarding jobs in the studio. It's a significant challenge to get right and offers many opportunities to practice mic technique in both stereo and mono configurations. In this blog I'm going to show you how I tackle it.

A few months back I wrote the score for a short called 'Man Child' by Chris Watson. The project turned out to be quite unusual as I wasn't able to see any footage whilst writing! Scoring completely blind in effect, other than the storyboard and some critical timings to edit to.
